Visa requirements

Individuals from EU nations and Schengen area do not need visa to visit Finland. However, you always need an official travel document.

Weather

Average temperature in the region has been 16 C^o in May. However, on rare occasions it has been as high as 31 C^o during the day, and as low as 0 C^o during the night.

Food

Ruunaa Outdoor Center and Ruunaan Matkailu have a restaurant with buffet type breakfast and lunch daily. Drinks and snacks are available during opening hours.

Recycling

Properly sort your waste for recycling. In Ruunaa Outdoor Center, there is a bin for mixed waste behind the cabins, along with a separate box for bottles and batteries. Bottles can also be returned to stores, where you’ll receive a deposit refund. Depositable bottles can be identified by the “Pantti” marking on the label. The refund amount can be up to 0.40 euros.

Sauna

If your cabin has a sauna and you want to use it for drying wet gear after kayaking, do not place the clothes on the sauna stove – the risk of fire is high.

Gas station

All gas stations in Lieksa are self service stations open 24/7. The distance from Ruunaa Outdoor Center to gas station is 30 – 32km.

Currency

The currency used in Finland is the EUR. Major credit and debit cards are accepted widely. Some small shops or kiosks may not accepts cash.

Parking

If you are staying in the Ruunaa Outdoor Center

You can park your car next to the cabin or hut.

If you stay in a tent, you can park as near as possible without blocking other cars.

If you are staying outside of the Ruunaa Outdoor Center

Please park your car on Neitikoskentie (P1) if you use the boat storage during the competiion.

If you bring your boat with your car, you can use P3 for parking and paddle to Neitikoski rapid.

Drones

Ruunaa is located close to border and thus flying with drone is strictly forbidden without special permission. See more at sky.fintraffic.fi

Competition Office

The competition office is located in the restaurant building.

Number bibs, accreditation cards and competitor t-shirts will be handed out at the Competition Office starting Sunday 9:00. Unless the money for the participation fee payments for your national federation is already on the organizer’s bank account, each national team will need to show a receipt of their bank transaction.

The Competition office in the restaurant building is open during the following hours:

• Sunday 7th of June: 9-20
• Monday 8th of June: 8-12
• Tuesday 9th of June: 8-10
• Wednesday 10th of June: 8-12

At other times, we can be reached by phone (+358413250092) and, if needed, they’ll meet you at the restaurant. The standby hours are:
